|BEST TIME TO GO:||Wildlife viewing in Botswana is good all year round however each season offers its own unique highlights and the answer to this question depends on what you would like to experience.
Dry Season: Jun-Oct: Best game viewing, as animals congregate around water sources. Peak concentrations of wildlife occur during Sept/Oct when it is hot & dry. Winter months are from June until August.
Green Season: Dec-Mar: Excellent bird watching. Light for photography is at its best. Many species give birth to their young offering plenty predator-prey interactions & incredible photographic opportunities with dramatic summer skies and incredible landscapes.
Transition Season: Apr, May & Nov: A huge diversity of fauna and flora thrives in April to May in the Okavango. Water levels are usually high and land-based camps can offer a mix of land and water activities. Game drives on islands may happen less often, due to higher water levels. May is characterised by huge concentrations of game in the Linyanti region. Good numbers of zebra, giraffe and buffalo congregate around the Savute Channel and the DumaTau floodplains. Large numbers of elephant generally settle along the Linyanti River. In November temperatures are high, both day and night and vegetation is at its driest, making wildlife sightings easy as species congregate along the Savute Channel, Savute Marsh and other water sources.
